Often this arises out of a past situation where the true fear is that it could occur again or that you may lose control. This creates a “fight or flight” reaction to immediately remove yourself from the situation to feel safe. Being attacked by a dog as a child and being fearful of them ever since, speaking your truth and being punished for it, or developing a fear of enclosed spaces after being trapped in a small space are examples of this.
Fear brings about disruptive feelings ranging from uneasiness to being immobilized when faced with the possibility of the situation. It causes a person to limit themselves and experience the added stress of creating behaviors to “avoid” the potential situation, such as driving a long distance for a business trip or vacation to avoid flying, living small to avoid gaining attention, or walking up 20 flights of stairs to avoid taking an elevator.
This creates unnecessary worry and feeling unsafe. It causes obstacles for them and others in their life too. A fun family vacation to an exotic location can be a nightmare for someone who has a fear of flying. Accepting a dream job can be scary for someone who's afraid of owning their own power. The good news is that concerns like these are easily resolved thru hypnosis.
