Are you afraid of flying? Fearful of elevators, tunnels, or enclosed spaces?
Terrified of spiders, snakes or even dogs or cats? Are you afraid of heights or thunderstorms?
Often this arises out of a past situation where the true fear is that it could occur again or that you may lose control. This creates a “fight or flight” reaction to immediately remove yourself from the situation to feel safe. Being attacked by a dog as a child and being fearful of them ever since or developing a fear of enclosed spaces after being trapped in a small space are examples of this.
